The article “You Can’t Go Home Again” was written by Tariq Ramadan, who is a Swiss Muslim philosopher and writer. He was born in Geneva to an Egyptian Muslim family. Ramadan used to be a Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies at Oxford University, UK. In the article, it is implied Ramadan uses this position to challenge non-Muslims to learn about Muslim culture: “Are you prepared to study the history of a civilization that is present in your lives and forms a part of your pluralistic society?” (p. 205, ll. 32-35). Ramadan has written many works on the condition of Muslims in Europe, such as Western Muslims and the Future of Islam (2004) and The Arab Awakening (2013).
