Forms of appeal

The article “You Can’t Go Home Again” by Tariq Ramadan mostly uses logos and pathos. The sender appeals to reason and emotions to convince readers of a need for a united European Muslim community that should also interact with and accept non-Muslims. 

Logos

Logos is used at the beginning, when Ramadan compares the isolationist attitude of the first Muslim immigrants to the change that is taking place in their descendants. Ramadan mentions that the first immigrants always intended to return to their countries of origin, which is why they saw no reason to mingle, either with Europeans or with other Muslims. Ramadan appeals to logic, pointing out that their descendants cannot do the same because they grew up in Europe.
