Summary

“The Well of the World’s End” is a fairy tale about a girl whose mother has died. The girl’s father remarries, and his new wife hates the girl because she is more beautiful than herself.

The stepmother makes the girl do servant’s work and eventually decides to get rid of the girl. She gives her a sieve and tells her to bring water from the Well of the World’s End. The girl begins to look for the Well of the World’s End, but nobody knows where it is. She meets an old woman who guides her to the well, but when she gets there, she realises she cannot fill the sieve with water.

A frog appears and asks the girl what is troubling her. The girl explains that she cannot fill the sieve, and the frog offers to help her if she promises to do what it tells her for a whole nigh...
