Narrator and point of view

The short story “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury is a third-person narration from a limited point of view. 

The narrative mainly follows George and his perspective on the events. For example, at the beginning, the narrator points out what George notices about his wife: “ ‘Are you sure?’ His wife sounded peculiarly tense.” (p. 16, l. 24). At the end, the narrator seems to borrow Mr. McClean’s perspective, suggesting he will be the next victim of the nursery (p. 29, ll. 25-30).

The narrator’s comments are also mixed with George’s perspective on the nursery, and his thoughts are not distinguished from the narration: “George Hadley was filled with admiration for the mechanical genius who had conceived this room.
