Summary

“The Selfish Giant” by Oscar Wilde begins with a group of children who used to play in the Giant’s garden every day, after school. When the children play in the garden, the trees are in bloom, and the grass is filled with flowers. The Giant returns to his castle after seven years and discovers the children playing in his garden. He sends them away, as he wants to enjoy the garden by himself. He builds a wall around his property and puts up a sign to keep people out.

When Spring comes, it avoids the garden. Winter rules there, accompanied by the Snow, the Frost, the North Wind, and the Hail. The Selfish Giant is sad that other seasons do not come to his garden and longs for a change.
