Style of writing
Overall, the style of writing used in the short story “The School of Life” by Lauren Keenan is relatively informal. However, it may be useful to distinguish between the language used in Marcus’s narration and the language used in the story’s dialogue.
The narration often uses relatively complex or academic words such as “surreptitious” (l. 17) or “autocratic, oligarchic, dictatorial sadist” (l. 25).
