Summary

Lee and Alex grow up in fishing families, in a coastal village with warm winters and stormy summers. As children, the boys are fascinated with the natural landscape of the lunar coast, preparing to become fishermen, like their fathers and like previous generations. While Alex seems to be made for the hard life on the coast, Lee is more sensitive to coastal weather.

When they become teenagers, the natural landscape loses its magic, and they start looking for adventure in a cave by the coast where the tide comes in.

One day their fathers return from fishing with empty nets, and the families start realising the tide is not coming back. Eventually, Lee’s parents send him to college in the city, while Alex stays in the village.

Lee returns six years later to discover...
