Analysis

The analysis of the poem “The Charge of the Light Brigade” by Alfred, Lord Tennyson shows that its composition is not consistent throughout the poem. The poem uses a varied rhyme scheme to follow a narrative structure.

The speaker of the poem is an observer of the events and is not directly involved in them. We have no information on the speaker, as the focus of the poem is on the story of the Light Brigade. The setting of the story is a battlefield that the speaker calls “the valley of Death”. The descriptions of the setting help to enhance the dark and tense atmosphere of the poem.

The language of the poem includes words related to the military and war. The poem includes a lot of descriptions which make the speaker’s story compelling. Various literary devices such as repetition, alliteration, and personification are used to enhance the poem’s meaning.
