Summary

Next, we will summarise the short story “Prospect House” by Frances Childs.

After getting Hepatitis B from a boy she slept with, Kim loses her job in a home for deprived children and ends up in Prospect House, an institution for teenage girls without parents. At first, she scares the other resident girls because of her yellowish colour and because she comes from London. Most of the girls there get pregnant quickly and move to Sussex House, an institution for teen mothers. Kim visits one of the girls there and dislikes it. Afterwards, she tests a girl called Di by throwing a knife at her, but the girl does not beat her up because she is scared of Kim.

When Kim feels better and her yellow colour fades away, Di and Andrea beat her up, to teach her a lesson, after which they all become friends.
