Narrator and point of view

The short story “On Monday of Last Week” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is told from the point of view of a third-person narrator. The story follows the perspective of the main character, Kamara, so the narrator is limited. The readers only have access to Kamara’s thoughts and feelings. The text follows Kamara’s stream of consciousness, and frequently slips from the present into the past and back again.

There is a lot of information about the other characters which Kamara does not have access to. For instance, even though Kamara thinks about Tracy a lot, her knowledge of Tracy is limited to what little Neil has told her, and two conversations Kamara had with Tracy.
