Style of writing

The short story “On Monday of Last Week” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie uses the “stream of consciousness” method as we follow Kamara’s thoughts and feelings. This method gives us insight into Kamara’s thought process, and helps the readers understand her better. For instance, we know that the reason why she examines her belly in the mirror is because she is imagining it is flat, and Tracy is touching it. We know the reason why she imagines this is because she has a crush on Tracy. 

Kamra uses a lot of questions in her internal monologue, especially when she is struggling to make sense of a situation which she has no answer to. This happens for instance, when she wonders about the change in Tobechi: “He had not spoken like that ...
