Summary

In his “Make Good Art” speech, Neil Gaiman starts his speech by saying that he never expected to give a speech at a university graduation as he has never gone to university. He goes on to talk about how his professional life developed and says he made it up as he went along. Gaiman tells the audience he will share helpful things he wishes he knew when he started out on his journey as a writer as well as the most important advice he was given, which he did not follow.

The first tip Gaiman shares with the audience is that when you start a career in the arts there are no rules to what you should be doing.
