Style of writing

The style of writing of Stefanie Marsh’s article “Wild at heart: how one woman and her husband live out in the woods” is mostly informal. The article includes contractions and does not contain overly formal phrasing. This makes the article more accessible and easier to read. 

At times, Marsh uses very short sentences in a conversational style, such as: “It’s an exciting occasion for them: they haven’t seen another human being for 11 days. It’s 5pm. What have they been doing all day? (…) They sleep as long as it’s dark. They’ve never had more energy” (ll. 15-19). In this example, Marsh uses informal and conversational language to present some aspects of Miriam and Peter’s daily life.
