Logos

Nick Laure’s blog post contains quite a few examples of logos, where he tries to convince his audience by means to statistics and logical arguments.

For example, he brings up various statistics to show that gun legislation does seem to have a positive effect when it comes to limiting gun violence:

You can’t be blind to what has happened in Australia, where gun control has been extremely successful, or the numerous U.S. states where gun control correlates with fewer gun deaths. You can’t ignore the fact that exactly zero of the top 10 deadliest U.S. shootings occurred during the Federal Assault Weapons Ban (1994-2004). (ll. 56-59)

In this section of the speech, Laure also employs a few other logical arguments that are meant to show the flaws in the logic of people who are against gun control. For example, he argues that making it more difficult to buy assault weapons legally would have an impact on mass shootings, because most people would find it very difficult to obtain these weapons illegally, and thus would not have access to them:
