Summary

The narrator in “True Love” by Isaac Asimov, a computer program named Joe, describes its relationship with his creator, Milton Davidson. Milton creates Joe and programs it to learn how to speak. Joe is also connected to the Multivac-complex which gives it access to information all around the Globe.

One day, Joe and Milton discuss why Milton—who is already 40 years old—is not married. Milton claims that it is because he has not found true love. This gives him the idea to make Joe find his ideal mate by searching through the Multivac data. Following Milton’s instructions, Joe eliminates all men, and all women who do not fit Joe’s requirements. Eventually, he finds 235 women that fit Milton’s descriptions.
