Setting

The short story “True Love” by Isaac Asimov does not have an exact time and physical setting. However, the reference to Witchita (l. 120) might suggest that the events take place somewhere in the US. The fact that Milton created an intelligent computer program linked to a worldwide net of other computers suggests that the events take place in the future or in an alternate reality in which humans have designed Artificial Intelligence. Consequently, the story has a typical science-fiction setting.

The physical setting mentioned in the story is the computer office where Milton works and where Joe is located, but the place is not described in the story.
