Audience

In this part, we will talk about the audience of John F. Kennedy’s "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech, including the wider audience who watched the speech through different kinds of media.

The speech was made in West Berlin, on the steps of Rathaus Schoneberg, the city hall. More than 450,000 Berliners were present during the speech – ordinary citizens as well as US and German dignitaries. Kennedy's speech was translated into German to the audience and he received positive feedback through cheers and enthusiastic applause, which can be heard in the televised version of the speech.
