Style of writing

The exam assignment from August 11th 2023 asks you to include an analysis of the style of writing in lines 55-66 of Cazzie David's article "Going Cold Turkey". 

You might start by noting that David's language is generally informal. We can see this in her use of contractions (e.g. "It's", l. 57) as well as interjections such as "Like,..." (l. 60) or even just "..." (l. 65) to mark a pause. All of these are informal elements that also makes the text feel more like spoken language. You can also see the informal style in the choice of words, for example in the use of a swearword like "motherfucking" (l. 64), or the use of invented word combinations like "look-at-me-I-have-a-puppy-come-play-with-it-and-ask-me-questions kind of attention" (ll. 62-63).
