We recommend you put Michelle’s character and behaviour in relation to her circumstances. Objectively speaking, Michelle has been abandoned by both of her parents. First by her father who, allegedly, did not like her mother’s acting career. Second, by her mother who has left her with an aunt who is not exactly a role-model parental figure, giving the girl cigarettes and displaying her boyfriends (l. 15) in front of the teenage girl.
