So, what makes people hold on to certain habits? Just like Philip, we all have habits and routines we follow strictly; we sometimes are aware of them, but other times we become oblivious to the fact that they govern our lives more than we let ourselves believe.

Habits can create a sense of security. For example, praying can be such a habit. Many people introduce praying to a certain divinity in their daily life; praying can help people feel more secure.
