Summary

Here is an example of a summary of the short story "Flotsam and Jetsam" by Alan Bissett.

A Scottish woman named Kate is on holiday in the African country of Zanzibar, after she has been laid off because of government cuts in the UK.  She enjoys the beach scenery and thinks about her former work colleagues who refused to come on the trip. She is soon the target of locals trying to sell her boat snorkelling trips. Irritated by the number of people attempting to sell her something, she goes into a local restaurant and orders some seafood. The owner dismisses the people that want to sell trips to Kate.
