Summary

“Coming Home” narrates an episode of Chris’ life, a furniture maker, born in Manchester and living in a small village in Scotland, Carnbeg. Chris rents a Japanese DVD from the local shop about an old family in the 1950s.The old couple in the movie decides to visit their children in Tokyo. However, the grown-up children do not have time for the parents who, eventually, return home disappointed.

The movie makes a huge impression on Chris, who watches it several times. Chris starts to think about his parents, still living in Manchester. He hasn’t seen them in eight months. Both him and his sister moved away in the countryside. He calls his parents and invites them over, in Carnbeg. When his parents turn down his offer, he decides to visit them ...
