Summary

The short story “Bangana” by CJ Hauser follows Alicia Brennan, a former military pilot, during a couple of days from her life through her inner monologue. Alicia now works for a military contractor, flying surveillance drones in Middle East conflict areas such as Afghanistan and Iraq. She took the job after she had a child, Bug, with Sean, a history teacher. Every day, Alicia patrols remote areas  with drones, looking for signs of terrorist acts. Now she is watching a warehouse close to Afghanistan’s border with Pakistan. Close to the warehouse, there is also a family house where a man she calls Daddio lives together with his wife and two boys.

The man has a garden and some goats which usually trespass the garden and eat the vegetables. The boys usually play football. While surveilling, Ali...
