When you analyze Barack Obama’s 2008 victory speech, you should also consider those statements that that are particularly interesting or controversial.
For example, Obama’s speech was the first election victory speech to include gay people, showing the speaker’s progressive attitude: “It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled.” (ll. 10-12). In 2015, during Obama’s second term as US president, gay marriage became legal in all US states.
The references to Wall Street and petty politics from Obama’s speech can also be seen as a direct attack on the Republican rule, as in September 2008 (during Bush’s presidency), the US offered financial support to several financial institutions which were believed to have contributed to the economic crisis:...
