Barack Obama delivered his 2008 victory speech in Grand Park, Chicago, Illinois, in front of a live audience of 240,000 people. The speech was also televised, increasing the audience to millions of people in the US and around the world.

If you look at the video of the speech, you will notice that the audience is diverse in terms of race and age, and people are cheering, applauding, and holding banners – showing their support for the newly elected President.

Occasionally, the camera zooms in on the emotional responses of African-American celebrities in the crowd, such as Jesse Jackson and Oprah Winfrey. The camera also shows the live reactions of individuals around the country as well as in the Chicago crowd, many of whom cry or cheer due to the emotions of the event. In the video version of the speech, you can also hear the crowd chanting “Yes we can”, the slogan from Barack Obama’s election campaign, to show their support and their agreement with his words.
