Current issues

The article was a reaction to the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson and the following riots in the city. The events opened a nationwide debate about racial tensions and police bias against African Americans. Protests continued in Ferguson until November 2014. The incidents also led to an inquiry into the Ferguson police which concluded in 2015 and found that officers in Ferguson were inclined to be racially biased against African Americans in the community.
