Intention

Glennon Doyle’s main intention in the excerpt from her memoir Untamed is to share her personal experience and inspire readers to improve their lives. This is in line with the memoir and self-help genres to which the book Untamed belongs. 

More specifically, however, Doyle intention in this excerpt is to use her personal experience to convey the benefits of reclaiming one's wildness and authenticity. She uses the analogy of the caged cheetah to represent her own feelings of being ‘tamed’ by societal norms and expectations.
