Intention

The main intention of Salman Rushdie in his essay “The New Empire within Britain” is to inform the readers about how immigrants are treated in British society. He wants to spread awareness about the discrimination people of color face.

Rushdie appeals to pathos by using personal stories to show the impact of institutional racism on people in the UK.
