An important speech to look at for more context is Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. In his speech, King promotes racial equality, calls attention to discrimination, and encourages unity. King’s speech remained relevant in the 1970s and the 1980s as well, decades after his death, and is considered one of the most important speeches in American history.
