Sender

The sender of the text is Vittwia Mickleson, who was a travelling correspondent for various newspapers in the United States for most of her life. The text is an autobiography, which means that Vittwia is writing about her life and experience as a pioneer to the west of the United States. In the text you have to analyze, Vittwia documents her life from the moment of her birth until her 83rd birthday. Furthermore, she has previously documented part of her life and experiences in different places in the US, which makes her a convincing author and storyteller.

The main receiver of Vittwia Mickleson’s text is represented by the readership of the Oregon Journal newspaper back in 1924. As the Oregon Journal declared itself a Democratic newspaper for all men - regardless of their race, beliefs, status - then we can also assume that all these categories were the target audience.
