Miss Lucy

Outer characterization

Miss Lucy is a notable character in the novel Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. Her full name is Lucy Wainwright (Chapter 22, 61%). She is one of the guardians and Hailsham, and she stands out from the rest because she is the only one who wants to prepare the students for what is waiting for them instead of having them concentrate on art and literature.

Miss Lucy is described as “squat, almost buldoggy” with “odd black hair which grew, grew upwards, so that it never covered her ears or her chunky neck” (Chapter 3, 9%). Despite this, she is fit, and can win against the boys from Hailsham when they race.
