Style of writing

The style of writing used by Tara Westover in her essay "I Am Not Proof of the American Dream" is personal, introspective, and reflective. 

Westover mainly uses neutral language throughout the essay, but she gets a bit more formal in the second part of the essay, particularly in the sections where she presents statistics, such as: “A 2019 report by the Institute for Higher Education Policy tells us that at some state flagship schools (not fancy private schools, just regular four-year public universities), low-income students are asked to cover some $80,000 beyond what they can afford” (ll. 83-85).
