Characters

The main characters of the short story “Green Velvet” by Krzysztof Pelc are the narrator, the narrator’s father, and the narrator’s grandmother. All of these characters are immigrants in Canada, and the family originally came from Iran.

The three characters represent three different generations and three different attitudes to their status as immigrants. The narrator has a positive attitude and is excited to fit in, his father is more cautious, while his grandmother is judgmental and critical towards the new country.

You can read a detailed characterization of the narrator, his father, and his grandmother on the following pages.
