The daughter

The daughter is another important character in the short story “Girl” by Jamaica Kincaid. The daughter’s age and appearance are not presented, but several clues hint that she is almost a teenager at the time the mother is speaking. For example, the mother hints that the girl probably has her menstruation: “soak your little cloths right after you take them off” (p. 320, l. 4)...
