Summary

In “Enoch” by Robert Bloch, Seth is a man who lives alone in the swamps and whose head is inhabited by a tiny evil creature named Enoch. Enoch makes Seth kill people and rewards him by giving the man dreams where he goes to a place where he is happy. Initially, Seth did not want to obey Enoch’s commands but he soon realized that he cannot fight him.

One night, Enoch announces to Seth that a girl is going to come knocking at his door asking for help with her tire and that she must be his next victim. Seth kills the girl, dumping her body and her car in the swamp. The next day, the sheriff comes and arrests Seth, because he suspects Seth killed the girl. Seth cannot ask Enoch's help because the creature is sleeping (as he always does after Seth has killed someone).
