In 2013, Edward Snowden, a former CIA employee, leaked secret documents related to the nation’s security. Among these documents were also pieces of information regarding surveillance and the interception of private communication within The United States. While some Americans believe Snowden has endangered the nation through this act of treason, others believe he is a hero who exposed the unconstitutional practices of the Government. 

In the following section, we will outline three texts that cover the topic of government surveillance and whistleblowing. We will outline the texts one at a time, focusing on important points concerning the topic.

The text called “In NSA leaks, Edward Snowden performed a service” is written by Eugene Robinson. The article was published in 2013 on the website of The Washington Post. 

While not entirely agreeing with Snowden’s way of exposing Government secrets, Robinson believes that Snowden did the public a service. The public needs to pay more attention to monitoring problems.
