Literary period

John Keats belongs to the second wave of romantic poets along with Percy Bysshe Shelley or Lord Byron. They are different from the first British Romantic poets (such as William Wordsworth) because, apart from their focus on natural, pastoral aspects (like 1st wave Romantics), they also tend to focus on the ancient past (Antiquity) as a source of inspiration. In general, Romanticism is also associated with the idea of feelings and emotions over reason, fascination with beauty and simple, rural lifestyle and focus on grand themes such as love, religion, life and death, etc.
