Summary

“Another Language” by Craig Cliff tells the story of James, who asks his grandfather Dedo why he is always sad, and the man replies that he is sad because he misses Yugoslavia. When asked about the reason that made him leave his native country and move to New Zealand, the grandfather explains that it was because of his stutter.

James is intrigued by the fact that his grandfather doesn’t seem to stutter in English, so he befriends a boy named Marcus Collins at school - who also stutters.
