The effects of war
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s short story “Chinasa” explores the theme of war and focuses on the effects war has on the characters. The story presents gruesome descriptions of people who are starving, trying to survive, and even severely injured from bombing.
Despite being only around fifteen years old, Chinasa wants to appear strong and show she manages to handle the trauma of war. At the end, she becomes the minister of education, a literature professor, and even marries and has children.
