Summary

The narrator in “On the Beach” by Bret Easton Ellisis on a beach in Malibu with his dying girlfriend. As his girlfriend talks to him, he thinks about the party he went to the previous night. He plays some music and sees Mona and Griffin strolling down the beach. His girlfriend has rearranged her wig and continues to explain to the narrator how she feels.

The narrator recalls how he found out that his girlfriend was sick after their prom night, when he got drugged with cocaine. His girlfriend asks him to change the music tape and play Madonna.
