You are a student at the University of Bristol. You have been asked to give a speech to a group of international students at the university on issues raised in the UK debate after Brexit.

Write the manuscript for the speech in English and give it an appropriate title.

Word count: 800-1200 words

Your manuscript must include references to the source material.
All applied sources must be documented.

Uddrag

You could also bring up the argument that Brexit has allowed the UK to regain control of its legislation and place the country on the world map again.

Using the sources to discuss this point

The only source that presents Brexit in a positive light is “HM Government - The benefits of Brexit”. Here, then Prime Minister Boris Johnson makes several arguments in favor of Brexit and praises the decision to leave the EU. Consider that the document was released by the Conservative government supporting Brexit. Therefore, it is natural that the source presents Brexit in a positive light.

For example, the source praises the UK for reconsidering its immigration system and allowing “skilled workers and the best global talent” (ll. 24-25) to contribute to developing the labor market. The document also talks about balancing the country’s welfare system in such a way that the “preferential treatment of EU migrants” (ll. 47-48) has ended. The source also mentions the importance of taking back the country’s cultural heritage through the reintroduction of the crown stamp symbol and the “iconic blue passports” (l. 57).

Conclusion

In the conclusion of your manuscript, you should summarize the main points and the arguments for and against Brexit. Your speech does not need to have a strong conclusion for or against Brexit. The most important thing is to present good arguments that are supported by the sources.
