Summary

The short story “Galveston” by Frederick Barthelme begins with the narrator remembering the beginning of his relationship with his wife, Rachel. They were in love, and they got married because they thought Rachel was pregnant. However, a week after the wedding, Rachel’s mother died so they travelled to Utah to attend her funeral.
