Summary

This is a summary of the short story "Flight" which takes place in small fictional suburb called Franconia where the narrator lives. 

The presumably female narrator starts a friendship and business project with Eugene, her brother Jason’s best friend. All three are in high school, but the boys are going to graduate soon and are going to study at Harvard. Jason is involved in a science project studying mice’s behavior and he is very different from the other two characters.

The narrator feels she and Eugene share the same perspective on life and on the suburb. They start writing school papers for other students in exchange for some money, which are administered by Eugene in a shared account.

The narrator’s brother does not approve of their enterprise. Eugene works less on the papers than the narrator does.  One night Eugene forgets he needs to write a paper for one of the boys in high school, Joey. The narrator ends up spending all night working on that paper and the next morning as Eugene ...
