A similar text to “The Ideas Shaping a New India” is “The New Empire Within Britain” by Salman Rushdie. In this article, Rushdie informs readers about the way immigrants are treated in contemporary British society. He compares Britain’s imperial past with its present to show how attitudes have changed or remained the same over the years in the same way that Giridharadas does in his article. 

Another text to look at is the “Tryst with Destiny” speech by Jawaharlal Nehru. His speech marks the important occasion of India’s independence from the British Empire.
