Discussion: Do royal events receive too much media coverage?

Living in a world where media is extremely developed, means that we have access to a large variety of information and impressions from all imaginable areas. When an event of international importance takes place, it is no wonder that the media covers it immediately.

But where do we draw the line? When do we stop focusing on the same subject? When does the coverage become too excessive?

The article published in The Daily Mirror tries to answer these questions by analysing BBC’s response to complaints regarding the Royal family. The broadcaster was accused of giving too much “air time” (l. 4) to the story of Prince George’s birth and of siding with the Royal family.

However, BBC declared that the coverage of the story was balanced and objective, the huge ratings being only the consequence of the importance of the event.
