Summary

The short story “The Sniper” by Liam O’Flaherty begins with a sniper on top of a building watching an armored enemy car approach. An old woman arrives to speak to the man in the armored car, pointing towards the sniper’s location. When the man emerges out of the car, the sniper shoots both him and the woman. From the opposite roof, someone shoots at the sniper, injuring his arm and causing him to drop his rifle. The sniper cleans and dresses his wound and plans his escape. He realizes he must kill his enemy with his revolver, since he cannot use the rifle because of his injured arm. 

The sniper then tricks the enemy sniper into believing he is dead. The enemy stands up, and the sniper shoots him with his revolver. The dead body falls down in...
