The main theme of the short story “You Are Here” by Dana Miltins is relationship issues, or unhappy romantic relationships.

The man and the woman are stuck in a relationship which satisfies neither of them. However, they are unable to put an end to it. The man lies to the woman about wanting to be alone, instead letting her believe he wants to save for a house for the two of them (ll. 9-12). He is also selfish and possibly a bit of a coward because he wants to test living without her for a while before he permanently puts an end to their relationship. 

The woman is not happy in the relationship either, but she does not want to begin another relationship because “she doesn’t have time to start all over again” (l. 15). This suggests both of them put up with each...
