Summary

The article “Why Do We Hate Immigrants?” by Kevin Powell begins with the author’s description of his past. Powell claims that he is not an immigrant and talks about his ancestors’ history as slaves brought from Africa to the US. Then, Powell talks about the injustices that African Americans have had to endure throughout their existence in the US. Among others, he mentions the lack of freedom, violence, and trauma. Powell notes that all of these injustices helped motivate a quest for justice.
