Contrasts

The exam question asks you to discuss the contrasts used in the short film “Viral” by Donald Broida. 

The contrasts used in the film reflect May’s transformation. Therefore, it would be useful to focus on the contrast between the type of mother people judge May to be and the type of mother she actually is. The viral video of her portrays May as an unfit mother, who does not care about her son. Strangers who see the video seem to agree, as they leave hateful comments in which they criticize her faulty behavior. However, the video is misleading, as May is actually a loving and caring mother, whose son is her prime motivation for sorting out her life.
