The end of the Vietnam War
Peace talks between North and South Vietnam began in earnest in the early 1970s, and a peace agreement was drafted by the United States. However, the negotiations came to a stop when the North Vietnamese government demanded changes to the agreement.
A new series of aerial bombings, known as the Christmas Bombings, were ordered by the United States on Hanoi in December 1972. The raids drew international condemnation, but it forced the Vietnamese forces to return to the negotiation table. On 15th of January, 1973, all US combat activities were suspended and on 27th of January, 1973, the Paris Peace Accords were signed between the leaders of the Viet Cong, North Vietnam, and South Vietnam.
